Kauai Hotels

The Coconut Coast is on the eastern side of the Island of Kauai. This name come form the groves of old coconut palm trees that grow in the resort area. About 30 percent of the Kauai locals live in the Wailua/Kapaa area where the Coconut Coast is. The Coconut Coast of Kauai is the long time center of the culture of the Kauai people, there are many sacred Hawaiian sites there. One is the Bell Stone. The bellstone was a stone that when hit just right will make a noise that resonates thru out the island. The bell stone was "rung" to signal Royal Births. Some other things to see in the Coconut Coast area of Kauai are the Keahua Forestry Arboretum, Old Kapaa Town and Opaekaa Falls. The Keahua Forestry Arboretum features mango, monkeypod, and eucalyptus trees in a wonderful setting to enjoy them. Old Kapaa Town is a small 19th century plantation town and is a nice place to have lunch or shop. Opaekaa Falls is a scenic falls from the Wailua River very close to the Coconut Coast area.
